Republicans Reject Funding For Gun Violence Prevention Research

Representative Jack Kingston (R-GA), the chair of the House Appropriations Committee, has said he will oppose President Obama’s proposal for $10 million in gun research funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC’s current funding for gun violence prevention research is $0. However, another federal group, the National Institutes of Health, funds research on preventing gun violence.
