Senator Betsy Close Fails to Disclose Large Contribution From Extremist Group
By Penny Okamoto, Executive Director of Ceasefire Oregon
On May 15th, an Oregon Senate Democratic group filed a complaint with Oregon’s Secretary of State against Senator Betsy Close (R-Corvallis) for failing to disclose a contribution from an extremist gun political action committee.
Records show that on May 6, 2014, Senator Close received a $10,000 contribution from the Oregon Firearms Federation PAC. State law requires all campaign finance transactions to be disclosed within seven days during the period immediately preceding the May 20 election.
The Oregon Firearms Federation calls itself “Oregon’s only no compromise gun lobby.” They oppose background checks and other common sense gun laws.
