Blocking the Paths to Suicide

In the “New York Times,” Celia Seupel writes about suicide, and how it can be a very impulsive act. Its deadliness depends greatly on the way that people attempt to kill themselves.

More and more experts are calling for a reconsideration of suicide prevention strategy, and a greater focus on “means restriction.” They argue that America can substantially reduce its suicide rate and save lives if fewer people have guns in their homes and fewer people at risk for suicide have guns in their homes.
