New Analysis of School Shootings Released

Today Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns released an analysis of school shootings in America since Newtown. Since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, there have been at least 44 other shootings on K-12 school or college campuses.
Many of these shootings involve minors who obtained unsecured guns. When the source of the firearm was known, three-quarters of the shooters obtained their guns from home. In more than a third of school shootings, an argument escalated to a shooting because one or more guns were available.
We can do a lot more to prevent these tragedies. It’s time for state and national legislators to take action and pass stronger gun violence prevention laws.
